Sky Österreich on a mission: Strategic development of sustainable concepts through user-centered methods

Sky Österreich shows how innovation succeeds: with user-centered methods, an interactive event and 18 sustainable concepts as a result.

The media industry is changing rapidly – from new technologies and changing audience needs to increasing pressure to innovate. Staying successful in this dynamic environment requires more than just good ideas: It requires strategic thinking, user-centered approaches, and strong collaboration across departments. This is precisely where the joint project with Sky Österreich came in. Using innovative methods such as design thinking, interactive events, and tailored coaching, employees were empowered to develop 18 forward-looking concepts. The result: a team with an innovative spirit, a culture of open exchange, and ideas that can help shape the media landscape of tomorrow. A role model for companies that want to actively drive change.

Challenge: Shaping the future together

The goal was clear, the implementation challenging: employees were to independently develop strategically oriented and future-proof concepts – in cross-departmental teams. At the same time, the aim was to promote a user-centered mindset and teach methods along the design thinking process. The project was to conclude with an interactive large-group event that would not only advance the concepts but also create synergies, obtain valuable feedback, and strengthen team cohesion.

The path: focus on user-centricity and teamwork

Strategic project management:

Sky Österreich started with 70 motivated employees who were divided into four thematic focus areas – regardless of their position in the company. The aim was to promote fresh perspectives and an open culture of innovation.

Individual coaching sessions:

Our project team supported the teams with customized coaching sessions along the Double Diamond process. The sessions ranged from conducting user-centered interviews to creative ideation and testing the ideas developed. In this way, the teams were met individually where they were at the time and developed further in a targeted manner.

An interactive employee event:

The highlight was an interactive event at the Krainer Hütte, where 160 participants had the opportunity to present the concepts developed and obtain valuable feedback. At the same time, the event promoted cross-departmental exchange, team building, and an innovative mentality within Sky Österreich.

A great success: 18 ideas for the future and a strengthened team

The goals of the project were successfully achieved:

  • The joint development of 18 strategically aligned and user-centered concepts.
  • Empowering employees to apply design thinking methods independently, which makes Sky Austria sustainably innovative.
  • The employee event strengthened cross-departmental dialog and promoted an open innovation mentality.

The combination of creative concept development and personal exchange not only delivered concrete results but also strengthened the team spirit. Sky Österreich is now ideally positioned to tackle future challenges – together, innovatively, and user-centered.
