When the Top 100 Awards were presented last Friday at the German Mittelstands-Summit in the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt, HYVE had a huge reason to be delighted. We were not only voted one of the TOP 100 most innovative companies, but we also made it into the top 3 most innovative companies with our first-time application.
Top Innovator? That’s us.
More than 3600 companies applied for the independent prize; only 398 companies were able to meet the requirements. Using a scientific system, the TOP 100 jury evaluated the innovation management of medium-sized companies – and selected HYVE not only among the TOP 100 innovators, but also on the winners’ podium.
In the independent selection process, we presented ourselves strongly in the criteria of innovation success, innovation climate, innovative processes, open innovation and innovation-promoting top management.
Mentor and moderator Ranga Yogeshwar, together with Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke, honored the winners for their innovation management and innovation successes at a festive gala.
HYVE’s CEO Dr. Michael Bartl received the award and was very pleased with the excellent ranking: “The fact that we have made it into the TOP 100 most innovative companies confirms us in our daily work, in our innovation DNA and our living innovation ecosystem, in which customers, partners, start-ups, universities, alumni and employees live and breathe innovation. The fact that we made it into the top 3 at the first attempt makes me happy and proud”.

Successful in practice and science
Our multidisciplinarity makes it possible to work profitably in innovation projects. Our heterogeneity allows us to combine diverse skills and competences, qualifications and mindsets and to optimally accompany our clients at every step of the innovation process: from innovative market research methods such as netnography to software solutions for idea management, from the guidance of innovation and change processes at our clients to the development of prototypes (physical, digital and phygital/IoT) and the transfer into serial production.
We recently described in our blog how this can look like in concrete terms when we reported on our project with Hatz. In line with the Hatz goes digital strategy, HYVE was able to provide an IoT interface implementation through ideation workshops and feedback research at bauma fair and to present a solution approach with Hatz Connected Services that combines mechanically controlled engines (maintenance) with the requirements of modern, digitized companies. In addition to hands-on innovation management, HYVE is also unbeatable in the scientific assessment of innovation: our innovators teach at 54 universities worldwide and HYVE is one of the top non-university publishers with over 350 published scientific publications. We have just published a scientific study on the influence of artificial intelligence on the innovation process. For a free download click here.
About the award
When we heard about the Top 100 competition, we were all excited to apply. The only innovation competition in Germany that not only awards companies for individual products, but also on the basis of a holistic and scientifically sound analysis of the entire innovation process. HYVE had to start the race!
„When it comes to innovation, HYVE is the first association for many. True to our self-image we explore and empower the new, we at Haus der Innovation work daily with this understanding and empower our customers and partners to real innovation. Top 100 without HYVE? Unimaginable!“
Isabel Salzmann, Head of Marketing bei HYVE
A written application was followed by a visit of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration to HYVE in the Haus der Innovation. The team led by the scientific director of the competition and chair holder, Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke from WU Vienna, independently examined the applications for the coveted award at all stages of the innovation process and scrutinized the applicants on the basis of 120 criteria. The jury, made up of representatives of Germany’s most successful companies and well-known politicians, decided on the award and ranking.
